Transport Supervisor

Current

Fordham

Managing a fleet of 30-40 drivers in the ADR Department (International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) for a range of fuel products. My role involves me being in regular/frequent contact with both the customer and drivers to manage evolving situations and identifying opportunities to maximise/gain profit. To maximise driver workloads whilst taking into account legal driving hour restrictions. Scheduling to minimise dead miles by sourcing suitable loads to and from customer locations to ensure maximum profitability. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure units and trailers are readily available in the correct part of the country. To complete and maintain MOTs, ADRs, Services and SLPs. Cross functional working with other members of the ADR team to maximise driver workload and customer satisfaction. Recording all movements on a system called DELrep for invoicing including any notes which will help the administration team complete the paperwork for invoicing. Out of hours management for the National ADR team once a week to ensure smooth running of the fleet 24hrs 7 days a week. Management of drivers involves scheduling of work and sending to the driver. Solving issues which arise for example breakdowns/ terminal issues. Ensuring all drivers induction and training is current. I have supported the drivers through a difficult transition with redundancy. I will be leaving this role shortly due to redundancy myself.

Dec 2017 - Mar 2018

Transport Supervisor

Prickwillow

I managed the drivers and their performance issues to push the productivity levels and increase profits whilst working closely with the site team. After monitoring the drivers for a couple of weeks spotted a lot of time wasted due to delays from the picking shed, reported then designed a new system to improve times on site and put in a numbering system to maintain accurate administration of waste disposal. My role included Scheduling/Planning all the customer orders received for that day by creating driver routes with shortest distance but taking into consideration traffic, vehicle size, driver ability or other factors that affect times/productivity. Throughout the day there could be a number of challenges that required a quick and fast response to avoid loss of customer satisfactions by factors like vehicle breakdown. My aim was to try and pull forward as much work from the following day as possible to maintain service level and increase profit levels for the company. The site had no Transport program in place so had to maintain all driver plans and administration manually through an Excel spread sheet, using my previous experience to re-design the sheet to process automatic driver work sheets and other support tools to help manage the workload until a new program could be installed. Also being customer focused receiving calls for orders or to resolve any issues the customer maybe experiencing with service. I helped clean data in support of the new system installation, attended training sessions and used my previous experience to support management with their understanding and highlight new system issues for actioning. To maintain service level I had to manage vehicle conditions, report repairs/maintenance liaising with mechanics on and off site then scheduling vehicles off the road as needed. Process skip permits and manage on-going permit to uphold legal requirements. Complete the required paperwork for all Asbestos skip movements and tipping arrangements.

May 2017 - Oct 2017

Delays Coordinator

Duxford

Joined the Planning team to support and improve the On Time Despatch (OTD) and Delays/Lates within the Duxford site due to poor performance over the last two years. My original task was to introduce an existing Delays Management Tool to all areas of the business made by my predecessor. I later redeveloped the Delays Management Tool to better suit the business structure, increasing working efficiency and supported new audit requirements. I look after the KPI board and hold weekly meetings to update the team on OTD progress and its forecast, advice and guidance shared with the team for further improvements. Continuous support given to the Planning/Materials Manager and the Planners on a range of ongoing projects/A3s. Previous year (2015/16) the monthly average for OTD was 55.1% and my time with Hexcel (2016/17) has averaged 92.6% per month.

Aug 2016 - May 2017

Elemos Support

Huntingdon

My time at Amey involved an introduction of a new system called Elemos to which I was invited to help with the implementation process mainly on the Transport sector of the software. This was due to my ability to quickly change and adapt to systems, good with processing procedures and error corrects. A few months after the implementation Mick George looked to take on the same software in their company and wished to use my experience to further the success of their implementation process. When I started at Mick George my first role was to move around the business to build my understanding and develop the business processes missing within the company to help the external company AMCS with the system development required to suit the business needs. After the first workshop I was in charge of gathering all the data from the range of systems used across the different departments and transfer it the IFS Template ready for upload and testing, this involved a lot of cross department working to gather the results and improvements. Alone side the data transfer I was asked to investigate all missing tickets for the Transport department due to the abnormal number of credits and errors making its way through the current system. I had to use vehicles tracking, speaking with the transport coordinators and direct contact with the driver and customer to amend the issue and find a solution to eliminate similar future errors. Throughout the development process I was involved to use my previous experience to highlight and develop the needs required on the system to insurance the business requirements are met and help find work arounds on areas of the system that could not be developed.

Waterbeach

Moved from Hays as a temporary worker to full employment under Amey which added additional tasks and roles to my job. After additional training in transport/logistics with my team, I now stand in for the Transport Coordinators in their absence/holiday to cover the management of over 3000 customers and the collection of their waste at local commercial businesses, skip deliveries for household and commercial businesses across the East Anglia area. Also manage the artic transportation to and from the different waste disposal site under Amey. In my role I grow into a super-user for the odd Amey Regenerist system which resulted in me being included in the set of training/testing and asked to contribute to the development for a new system, Elemos. With the old and new system I have trained different departments on system usage to eliminate issues/errors identified by myself to help improve business efficiency and to help get the new system running to its max ability. I am also required to do a lot of cross department workings for problem solving reasons. I was trusted to complete a range of different tasks on and off site to help maintain the smooth running of our transport services like helping with driver investigations, covering the sprinter van in a drivers absence and many other tasks.
