I also was able to contribute to a research paper regarding the challenges and struggles of shifting to EV's and various related supply chain issues. Being a member of Purdue's NSLS chapter and assisting with BGR Student Orientation also really helped shape me into a better and more well-rounded student/man. All these great experiences allowed me to be accepted to a great internship, that I touch on below. Internship Experience Summer '22:In the summer following my junior year I was a Supply Chain intern at Genesis Products in Goshen/Elkhart, IN. My main objective was to lower target KPI's regarding our transportation and our drivers. Throughout the summer I learned about each subsection of the business and had to build a routing tool that was able to meet my given requirements. I was given great support along the way, but the project was completely on me and I had complete control over it. To meet my goals, I shifted our SOP's regarding our vehicle routing and dispatching for both our shipping teams and our drivers. I became proficient in our tracking software and figured out how to route our drivers to take the best route possible, reducing drive time and extra mileage. I then laid out the steps that shippers must do to route each driver before they leave our warehouses and the steps drivers must follow to take the most efficient routes. This project taught me so many transferable skills about following through, responsibility, chain management, communication, and just helped me grow up a lot. We met the target KPI in my last month as an intern, so overall my project was a success.
