I worked on the group claim for equal pay against Asda. The work was complex with potential claims in both the Employment Tribunal and the High Court; the number of claimants runs into the tens of thousands meaning that organisation and attention to detail is key. I have made sure that I have needed a good understanding of the relevant law and detail of the claim so that I can explain both legal and practical issues in a concise and comprehensible way. • An excellent working knowledge of Damages Based Agreements. I advise clients and potential claimants about our obligations, their obligations and any potential risk to which they may be exposing themselves.• Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.I took on extra tasks regarding insurance claims for clients, ensuring that ACAS limitation for early conciliation is met and identifying lead claimants and preparing witness statements. I was also asked to assist in the management of other paralegals working on my team who had less experience.

My role at Public Interest Lawyers (PIL) was to attend investigative interviews being undertaken by the Iraqi Historic Allegation Team (IHAT). IHAT was an independent investigation into alleged abuse at the hands of the British Army during their arrest and detention at MOD facilities in Iraq. The interviews took place in Istanbul and my role as a PIL representative was to ensure that the investigators asked sufficiently detailed questions to give the best chance of any successful prosecution and to make sure that the interviewers keep within guidelines set by the Istanbul Protocol and the Achieving Best Evidence Guidelines. When I was not in Istanbul I worked with solicitors at PIL on a variety of different cases including judicial review and some personal injury claims.

This can mean regularising an individual’s current status in the UK or applying for entry clearance. I am well practiced at using both the immigration rules and human rights law to obtain the best results for my clients.- Representing asylum seekers making first time and fresh claims under the Refugee Convention.- Making applications under EU regulations for family members of EEA nationals.My work included visiting detained clients in immigration removal centres and clients in prisons around the London area.During this employment I also qualified as a OISC Level Immigration Caseworker.
