Worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer within the Dynamic Component Overhaul department.My role involves disassembly, visual inspection, dimensional measurement, re-assembly and testing of transmissions, tail rotor gearboxes, main rotor heads and other dynamic assemblies on the BK117 and AS350 helicopter.

Inspector working within the ShadowWorks, which is part of Defence Aerospace Operations. I was part of a team which carries out repair and inspection work for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations, provides support for the build lines and instrumentation department, carries out machining work, manufactures and modifies components for new development projects, provides 3D measurement services and thermal painting.Some of my personal duties included:Visual and dimensional inspection of repaired MRO engine components including measuring defects, blend repairs, wall thicknesses, thread repair, nicks and scratches etc. Visual inspection of coatings, paints and corrosion protection.Carrying out dimensional measurements and the final view of new components manufactured in our department.Carrying out dimensional measurements of modifications made to existing aerospace parts for use in development engines. Weld and braze inspection.Involvement in repeatability and reproducibility (gauge R&R) studies and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR's).I was responsible for calibration control; ensuring all inspection equipment is kept in control and sent for calibration. This includes following the company calibration procedure when new items are purchased and processing calibration control documents.Handling certificates of conformance documents for aerospace materials which are brought into the department and generating batch codes before the material is issued to stores.

Advanced Practical Engineering Apprentice within the Gas Turbine Supply chain, Bristol, UK. My first 4 years at Rolls-Royce were spent doing on the job training with one day a week at college in order to complete my Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering (CNC machining). Whilst completing my apprenticeship I learnt to operate several machine types including 5 axis CNC lasers, Makino grinding machines, Matsuura milling centres and coordinate measuring machines. It was during this time I completed my Higher National Certificate, BTEC Diploma, NVQ level 3, NVQ level 2 and my key skills qualifications. Working in a large state-of-the-art CNC machining and castings facility I learnt about the manufacturing techniques, processes, operating procedures and some of methodologies used to create a lean manufacturing supply chain unit.
