My first 4 years at Rolls-Royce were spent doing on the job training with one day a week at college in order to complete my Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering (CNC machining). Whilst completing my apprenticeship I learnt to operate several machine types including 5 axis CNC lasers, Makino grinding machines, Matsuura milling centres and coordinate measuring machines. It was during this time I completed my Higher National Certificate, BTEC Diploma, NVQ level 3, NVQ level 2 and my key skills qualifications. Working in a large state-of-the-art CNC machining and castings facility I learnt about the manufacturing techniques, processes, operating procedures and some of methodologies used to create a lean manufacturing supply chain unit.
