While sitting in my first English literature class at Bergen Community College, I was asked by my professor at the time “Daniel, what is it that you want to do when you graduate?”.At that moment, the only answer I had for him was “I’m not asking for much really, all I want to do is help people.” It has been seven years since then, and in that time I have done quite a bit of helping. As a member of Phi Theta Kappa, I collaborated with a team of incredible people to not only redesign the general curriculum, but study new methods of anxiety alleviation for our students. Later as a nonprofit leadership intern for the Borgen Project, I lobbied on behalf of the world’s poor. I have written essays, made speeches, and published articles to this end, but I have felt as if there was something missing. I desired something more direct. I didn’t just want to help people, I wanted to solve problems. It was at this time that I learned about the power of strategic communications. Looking back, I would not change my answer, but expand upon it.My goal is to help people by creating wonderful things, and commit to a path of mastery.As a Communications Specialist, I have the capability to achieve that in full.
