Dan graduated from Buena Vista University in Strom Lake, Iowa, with a degree in Business Development and Psychology and has extensive knowledge in Counter Improvised Explosive Devices, Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction, Homeland Security, and Emergency Management and Training. In the last year, Dan provided support to the states of Florida and Maryland, providing COVID-19 vaccine support through mobile clinics providing more than 250,00 vaccines to the public. Dan retired from the US Army after serving 20 years in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Field. Dan served as the Associate Director for the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4). Dan also served as a Training Manager and Instructor at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services. Dan’s other past duties include working as a Poweshiek County Homeland Security Advisor and Emergency Management Director; he also served as the Iowa Regional Homeland Security Board Chair from 2004-to 2006.
