Built an Internal Audit Department from the ground up:Developed an internal audit risk assessment process based on established company process by collaborations with management and validated completeness against COSO and COBIT frameworks.Established a company wide governance audit program through review of IIA literature and existing entity level controls.Reassessed and improved SOX testing driving improvements and efficiencies by developing a year round internship program helping free up full time staff for more value added work. Led the department through its first External Quality Improvement assessment and successful implemented action plans related to findings from the assessment.Created training programs for new staff to increase knowledge, technical skills, critical thinking, and writing skills. Creating training for management regarding Internal Audit and our goal to help the company improve.Increased department staffing from three to six (including interns). Increased audits completed from just 24 (SOX only) audits to 52 (SOX and Operational audits).
