ThingPulse is a startup providing services and hardware around the Internet-of-Things. Initially we were providing kits for DIY and maker market. For our customers we design custom hardware, with our specialty being low power connected devices. With our extended network of manufacturers in China we can efficiently produce small (>10) batches of devices including enclosures. With the same network we can also scale production up to many thousands. Through our fulfillment center in Huizhou, China we can fulfill orders to almost all countries in the world efficiently. But our service offering doesn't end with the hardware. We are specialized in writing device firmware and optimizing it for low power consumption. At Netcetera I have been working in various customer projects, starting with a 4 year stint at SIX Payment solutions, nearly 1 year for a SBB (Swiss Railways) project, then as architect for a Netcetera product. In the following 4 years I worked for UBS as architect and tech lead developing retirement and wealth planning tools.From 2016 to early 2021 I was the technical project lead for the Vermögenszentrum Finanzportal where I helped to transform the JSP application into a modern single page application. At the same time we made the application responsive and got it running in a native container on mobile devices.Besides customer projects I am the line manager of a team of 6 employees where I define goals and discuss annual feedback, write reference letters and review vacation and education requests for my team members.For about 5 years I was the organizer of internal talks and introduced broad casting of the presentations to other Netcetera locations. In 2009 I initiated the Netcetera CodeCamp, a coding retreat where a couple of developers spend two days in a beautiful place what they do best: developing open source tools or working on internal projects.In 2013 I was allowed to organize the Jazoon tech conference together with 3 colleagues. My main duty was to organize talks in the role of the program chair. Since about 2015 I am heavily involved in the area of Internet-of-things (IoT), building low power sensor nodes, writing software for it and connecting these nodes over WiFi or LoRaWAN to the rest of the world.

As the tech lead and architect of 5+ Netcetera developer team I helped to transform the JSP based Finanzportal web application into a modern Single Page Application based on Angular. At the same time we made the application responsive to run in a native container on mobile devices.

As architect and tech lead of a 30+ on- and near shoring team for Netcetera I helped building several retirement planning and wealth management web applications. They are used by advisors to help their customers during advisory meetings. The project was organized into several scrum teams, daily stand-up meetings were organized with screen sharing, teleconferencing and JIRA scrum boards. Technologies involved were Java, Javascript, Websphere, charting tools, integration of many backend services, Oracle database.My responsibilities were to write technical specifications, do effort estimations, solve integration problems on-site, support go-live procedures.

As member of a 40+ software developer team I helped to migrate the existing credit card back office application written in UDS Forte to PASS III written in Java. The application processes every day millions of credit card transactions and ensures that merchants get payed and the accounts of credit card users get charged. Step by step parts of the old application were replaced by new components over a period of many months with a smooth transition. As a vendor we didn't just provide work force but also helped the internal team to build up Java know how.
