-Introduced a new methodology and developed protocols for routine implementation in the laboratory. Methodology comprises the detection of hydrogen sulfide and related small molecules by HPLC.

"ICURe is a collaboration of the SETsquared Partnership, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and Innovate UK (formerly the Technology Strategy Board), designed to move ideas and innovation out of universities and into the marketplace, where they will have the greatest impact."Received £50,000 funding and worked closely with a business adviser to:- Carry out three months of full-time, intense market assessment- Engage with prospective customers, partners and competitors- Validate the commercial potential of our research. - Presente our opportunity to an options panel

- Presented research at 7 conferences (national and international), including an invited talk at the COST Action Meeting BM1203: European collaboration in Oxidative Stress and Redox Biology.- Primary supervisor for two undergraduate student research projects- Mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students joining our laboratoryMain research project:- Investigated the role that oxygen concentration plays during the culture of cells in vitro and how this can affect treatment-induced oxidative stress, namely photodynamic treatment of human skin cancer cells. - Project involved the use of a wide range and combination of molecular biology techniques in order to advance our understanding of how cell culture conditions affect our understanding of disease aetiology and treatment.- Developed novel methods of improving existing treatments of non-melanoma skin cancers (see patent).Courses attended:University of Exeter Statistics Workshop (three days series)Critical Analysis of Published Scientific CommunicationsIncytometry Flow Cytometry Training (two days)
