With 26 years of dedicated service to the DC Metropolitan Police Department, I bring a wealth of experience and leadership in law enforcement. Currently serving as Commander of the Youth and Family Services Division since June 2022, I have been entrusted with overseeing a team of over 100 sworn members, specializing in the investigations of missing persons, child physical and sexual abuse cases within the District of Columbia.Throughout my tenure, I have consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence in crime resolution. My collaborative approach extends beyond departmental boundaries, as I work closely with local, state, and federal agencies to combat child abuse, trafficking, and exploitation cases, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community's most vulnerable members.Prior to my current role, I served as Captain from November 2018 to June 2022, where I led a team of over 200 detectives in the District Investigations Branch and the Carjacking Taskforce. During this time, I played a pivotal role in reducing crime rates as a Summer Crime Initiative Captain for the 6th District, implementing targeted strategies that yielded tangible results in crime reduction and community safety.During my tenure as Lieutenant , I had the privilege of serving in the Youth and Family Services Division, where I spearheaded high-profile criminal investigations, including cases involving police officers and teachers. At the helm of the MPD/FBI Child Exploitation Task Force, I played a pivotal role in combating child exploitation. Prior to my role as Lieutenant, I served as a Sergeant, where I supervised detectives in investigations of homicides and natural deaths, demonstrating my ability to lead and manage complex investigations with precision and expertise. Additionally, as the first-line supervisor of a specialized unit within the First District Vice Unit, I directed the efforts of plainclothes narcotics officers and undercover officers, playing a crucial role in combating major drug crime within our community.My journey in law enforcement began as an Officer in 1998, where I served for nine years, including a two-year assignment with the Executive Office of the Assistant Chief of Police/Mobile Force. In this capacity, I contributed to efforts to reduce violent crime in targeted areas, gaining valuable experience in strategic law enforcement initiatives.
