By collaborating with customers, the opportunity exists for them to choose how and when they consume electricity, which reshapes demands on our electrical system.By adopting Smart Grid automation and helping customers change the way electricity is used or shifting consumption to times of day when there is less overall need, NB Power can use lower cost generating assets to meet requirements.This change in approach will allow NB Power and customers to work closely together to mitigate future rate increases and steadily reduce debt.The role of Senior Smart Grid Technology Manager involves driving strategy and standards development needed for deploying a province wide smart grid network, as well as supporting integration of IT and OT businesses into one holistic service within the company. The reference architecture design and infrastructure development needed for smart grid will include such things as grid operations, substation management, distribution system management to imbedded generation, energy storage, micro grid and customer facing services such as load management, energy portals, lifestyle management tools etc...
