My primary objective is to develop and implement an industry influenced and accepted program for the chemical characterization and certification of metal alloy materials that would afford the scientific community an unequivocal level of confidence. Equally important is our desire that the resulting certified data be traceable to National Metrology Institutes with emphasis on our own National Institute of Standards & Technology.

Research, develop, and create primary metal standards for chemical testing. Provide an independent third party proficiency testing service for laboratories, recognized by NADCAP, A2LA, and NVLAP. Identified and provided direction for new business development and product diversity, resulting in overall company growth. Reengineered an outdated infrastructure and quality program to become audit friendly and obtain ISO 9001-2008 & NUPIC registrations. Maintain ISO 9001:2008 & NUPIC registrations, as well as quality manuals and standard operating procedures for the numerous tasks of the operation, revitalized deficient standards development and proficiency testing programs.

Provided technical expertise on hardware characterization utilizing thin film XRD and XPS techniques. Routinely supported FA lab needs and requests with specialized XPS, XRF, XRD and FTIR analysis regimens. Identified and provided direction for new business development and increased lab growth within instrumental analysis. Provided supervisory and technical support for 7 engineers and technicians responsible for Chemistry, Paints & Finishes, Contamination Control, and Mechanical / Metallurgical processes. Developed and administered annual performance reviews and development plans for supervised employees. Assisted in new employee hires.

Performed group lead duties involving mentoring and delegation of routine analytical tasks. Developed instrumental calibration procedures and SPC techniques for the instrumental suite. Designed, developed, and implemented automated gas chromatography systems for improved permanent gas analysis.

Developed and performed new instrumental methods for metal analysis by X-Ray Fluorescence. Developed and performed new instrumental methods for metal analysis by Spark-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy. Developed and performed new instrumental methods for inorganic crystal characterization by X-Ray Diffraction. Identified instrumental needs, established capital plan and acquired equipment.

Performed routine instrumental analysis of metals utilizing optical emission and AAS and C/S analyzers. Performed routine permanent gas and rocket fuel analysis utilizing GC's and UV spectroscopy. Performed polymer analysis utilizing infrared spectroscopy.
