Had the opportunity to attend multiple field visits of wastewater treatment plants and a proposed refuse transfer station; Conducted a field survey of primary treatment aluminum covers, deployed sensors to measure hydrogen sulfide concentrations, analyzed data, and prepared reports for a hydrogen sulfide study; Worked extensively with a wastewater treatment plant supervisor to learn about the processes and daily routine required to maintain and operate the La Cañada Water Reclamation Plant (WRP), worked with an engineer to create various diagrams, and created an operations manual for the facility; Updated Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans for nine WRPs which included reviewing current rules and regulations, updating figures, contact information, and inspection checklists, and developing and conducting training for the plant supervisors and operators; Conducted field testing to measure the Return Activated Sludge pipe thickness for the Los Coyotes WRP, prepared an assessment report memorandum, provided recommendations to replace all corroded pipe, and provided a cost estimate for the repair; Updated Hazardous Materials Business Plans for the WRPs; Performed a survey on the effluent weir at the San Jose Creek East WRP for the installation of a probe that will measure water elevation.
