The ARC MedAg Hub, established in 2018, is a $24+ million initiative supported by Australian government (Australian Research Council), industry and university funds. It comprises agricultural and biomedical researchers along with industry partner organisations. The ARC MedAg Hub’s cross-disciplinary and innovative research and industry collaboration provides a platform for the improved production of plant-derived medicinal products and the development of cost-efficient extraction technologies for peptides and other plant secondary metabolites. This, with the application of combinatorial chemistry will result in active and targeted drugs and the acceleration of their translation into commercial use.

Adelaide BioMed City (ABMC) Innovation District, is a $3.8B Health and Medical Innovation District in the heart of Adelaide, comprised of leading-edge anchor institutes and companies, that cluster and connect with start-ups, business incubators and accelerators.

The MMIC is a growth platform for Victoria’s manufacturing sector. They provide opportunities for innovation through specialist analytical and formulation development services, utilising state-of-the art technology and expertise in product development and industrialisation.

In 2013, leading Victorian hospitals, research and academic institutions joined forces to create the Melbourne Genomics Health Alliance. The Alliance first sought to establish when genomics could enable better care for Victorian patients, and when it could not. Our clinical studies provided a wealth of evidence to inform healthcare. Meanwhile we laid the foundations for genomic medicine: training clinicians to interpret tests, studying the economic impact on the health system, and building a shared system for clinical genomic testing. Now we are working with the Victorian Government to embed genomics in the state’s health system. This will ultimately make genomic medicine a reality for every Victorian who needs it.
