I am a lawyer with Larsen Walters PLLC. My work includes commercial and employment matters.I also work as a mediator with my mediation service, Gunter Mediation Services, LLC. I am a qualified mediator in the State of Minnesota.Formerly, I was an attorney in the litigation group at Fox Rothschild LLP (which acquired Riddell Williams P.S., my former firm). I worked principally in general commercial litigation, product liability, and maritime. I represented both corporations and individuals. I was generally on the defense side, but I also served as plaintiff's counsel in lawsuits. I prided myself on my analytical, research, and writing skills. Before attending law school, I edited scholarly books and taught writing at the college level. I bring to my work the skills that I developed as an editor and teacher.In fall 2014, I taught Appellate Legal Writing at the Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. In spring 2015, I taught Legal Writing II at Hamline. In fall 2016, I taught Legal Writing III: Appellate Brief at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.As a mediator, I believe that most cases should settle. The principal barrier to settlement is a failure to reflect adequately on the strength of the opposing party's position. My job is to understand the interests and positions of both sides and try to find a middle way that respects both parties' integrity and goals.As a litigator, I try to find cost-effective solutions to client problems. My work as a mediator helps me as a litigator, as it helps me understand better the perspectives of other parties and identify solutions that will maximize the benefit to my clients.
