As a Network and Telephony Engineer, I am responsible for the core underlying DC infrastructure to support FXDMS business outcomes. I am responsible for designing, supporting and maintaining the DC facilities, networking infrastructure, telephony systems and unified communications, core network switches, physical and logical security across FXDMS’ Australia and Asia Pacific sites. In summary, my role is diverse and includes:• Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all data centre connectivity and core infrastructure, 24 hours of the day.• Level 2 and 3 escalation lead for all network related outages and incidents across two geographically dispersed data primary data centres and 20 branch sites.• Problem-solving severity 1 and 2 incidents with internal and external stakeholders.• Continuous planning and improvement of network optimisation, security and risk management.• Proactive monitoring and maximising environmental impacts through sophisticated DCIM SNMP dashboards.• Maintaining the network environment with the latest firmware and patches – regulatory and compliance.• Fine tuning the network performance and addressing any link utilisation issues.• Deployed and configured network hardware including Juniper Firewalls (SRX 5K, 1K and 345 Series) and switches (QFX and EX series), Cisco routers (ASR/ISR series) and switches (Nexus 5K and C3850 series) with minimal impact on business operations.• Manage Fortinet firewall and network security management, traffic and routing.• Configured and administered Alcatel-Lucent telephony PBX systems with a combination of analogue, digital and VoIP.• Trouble-shooting and resolving major issues within the Alcatel Lucent PBX Systems causing intermittent dropped/hung calls.• Applying new hardened configurations to comply with PCI, ISMS and client security controls.

Data centre technical lead in 3 large data centre consolidation and modernisation projects ensuring all services were successfully migrated and commissioned in the new data centres. Actively managed the data centre project streams for 6 data centre upgrade projects, with one notable achievement of designing the solution to install two 90kVA UPS units with no impact or downtime to FXDMS clients. Successfully streamlined all IT purchases and strategic sourcing across the business by centralising procurement resulting in savings, efficiencies, financial transparency and control. In summary, this role included:• On-call SME for all data centre facilities issues 24 hours of the day• Key driver for implementing new DCIM software, which has improved visibility from 40% to 90% of all DCIM related issues.• Developed deep knowledge of network monitoring protocols (SNMP) resulting in configured monitoring and alerts for the network operations centre (NOC).• Provided technical expertise for 3 large data centre consolidation projects, including team lead for the data centre streams resulting in the successful transition of infrastructure.• Successfully project managed internal projects to improve data centre plant facilities to meet PCI and ISMS security compliance.• Deployed data centre air-cooling systems (CRAC) including designing hot/cold isle containment resulting in power cost savings.• Conducted power upgrades to sites across APAC resulting in successful commissioned enterprise grade powers systems with N+1 resiliency.• Retrieved and consolidated all IT software/hardware and license contracts with a combined annual total of $8 million, allowing senior management to identify better strategic procurement strategies.
