Throughout my pre-registration year, I got the opportunity to undergo Health Checks with patients, where I could have a real impact on their lives. Being close to two GP Practices, I got the chance to improve relationships with the practices and I got a greater understanding of the role of the GP Clinical Pharmacist.

I got to spend 2 weeks experiencing what it is like to be a clinical pharmacist working in the Sunderland Royal Hospital. I shadowed pharmacists on many different wards, even undertaking medicine histories and communicating queries with Doctors and Nurses. I also worked in the outpatient/inpatient dispensary, the aseptic dispensing unit and in the medicine information department. It was a fantastic experience that only reinforced my goal of working in primary care.
