"There has to be a better way..."These were the words that led me into the rabbit hole of programming. I was a teenager trying to develop a website using a graphical site builder, based on HTML tables and lacking any type of templating. To get the navigation bar on multiple pages, the only solution was copying and pasting. Eventually, my frustration pushed me to find a better solution; in this case, it was learning PHP and Javascript."There has to be a better way" has continued to be my philosophy throughout my programming adventures. I'm always eager to find the Better Way for any given problem, even if it means having to step out of my comfort zone and learn new skills and technology. In fact, overcoming the challenges on my path to the Better Way is what gives me a kick, and I love working with and learning from other people in order to get there. This motivation makes me a quick learner when it comes to new skills and programming languages.Throughout the years, this journey has lead me to many places: From web development in Python, Javascript and SQL, to low-level video game hacking in C and Assembly, to programming language development and domain modeling in functional languages such as Haskell. A big part of it was spent at Chalmers University of Technology, where I earned a MSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering. That's where I was introduced to functional programming, which came to be my favorite programming paradigm. I often find myself having to resist the urge of using it when it is not the Better Way. Still, you will probably catch me using functional idioms even when programming in an imperative language.When I am not programming, I enjoy listening to and playing music, learning foreign languages (I am currently learning Polish) and spending time with friends. I often find myself combining these interests with my interest in coding, such as when I wrote a piece of music automation software using Functional Reactive Programming in Haskell.
