As a research assistant in the lab of Dr. Debabrata Biswas I aided in projects pertaining to zoonotic disease pathogenicity and transmission. The projects I have assisted with involve determining the antimicrobial effectiveness of natural substances including blueberry and blackberry pomace extract on pathogenic organisms including non-typhoid Salmonella spp., Campylobacter jejuni, and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7.My responsibilities included sample preparation, pomace extract preparation, media preparation, tissue collection, and animal observation and handling.

As a research assistant at the Nutrient Data Laboratory my responsibilities included data acquisition, data management, and data entry of nutritional facts and figures, and editing scientific manuscripts.

As a summer intern I completed a project entitled “Comparative Quantitation of Proteins and Peptides Using the BCA Assay” under Dr. Sanford Markey of the Laboratory of Neurotoxicology.

As a summer intern I worked with the Staff Bioinformatician to implement and maintain a working cloud computing environment for the Laboratory of Neurotoxicology of the National Institute of Mental Health.
