I started mentoring Daniel prior to transferring my workload to him for my 2-month parental leave at National Grid. Daniel proved to be a fast learner: self-motivated, attentive to detail, and able to independently carry complex tasks with multiple dependencies all the way to completion. I was surprised at the time, to learn that Daniel was a recent joiner at National Grid - just a few months after his start date he was already well-versed in National Grid's security procedures, policies, and operational nuances. Daniel is a remarkably quick study. After just a few weeks of knowledge transfer, I was confident that Daniel would be able to drive and complete the 4 complex projects I was handing off to him for my leave - a workload that would strain even seasoned security architects. I was not disappointed, and in fact, was thoroughly impressed with Daniel's performance upon my return. As a testament to his skill, Daniel ended up retaining ownership for 3 of the 4 projects I transferred to him, and in fact completed them, leaving me with spare capacity to take on new work upon my return.
