Douglas Comhaltas is a renowned Irish music branch in Cork that teaches Irish Traditional music to hundreds of students on a wide range of musical instruments. I have proudly been a member of this branch since a young age and have competed in many groups such as céilí bands, grúpa ceoil, trios, duets, and have competed individually. In recent years, I have been asked to teach young students on both violin and banjo. Furthermore, I manage the ‘music circle’ within the branch, in which I aid students in playing with their peers or on their own in front of an audience to build confidence and provide a social aspect. Being a part of this branch has given me numerous opportunities to play in events and charitable work.

My Supervisor role carried many challenging responsibilities that has thought me numerous lessons, which have motivated and pushed me to evolve all my skills. My role included planning and strategizing the day to ensure the smooth running of my shift, delegating tasks, creating and managing team schedules, stock management and cash handling, all whilst ensuring the comfortability and positivity of my staff and satisfying the customers needs.

During my employment here as a barista I have learned numerous new skills and have been challenged in many ways such as working with accuracy and precision under pressure. My position entailed fulfilling the customers needs by ensuring their satisfaction, whether that was by successfully preparing their order or by aiding them with any queries they may have.
