Apprenticeship & Career Services Coordinator
St. Clair County Community College (SC4) provides related technical instruction (RTI) for businesses who train their employees within registered apprenticeships, in which I served as a liaison between businesses, apprentices, and SC4 faculty/staff. Due to the fact that I was unfamiliar with apprenticeships prior to being hired, I became an "apprentice" and learned about apprenticeships via online research, attending a MEATA conference hosted by Oakland Community College, and connecting with MichiganWorks! St.Clair/Macomb.As employers sought to learn, develop, and implement their apprenticeships, I connected them to MichiganWorks! St. Clair/Macomb so that they're properly informed of the registration process. Once they moved forward with the registration process, I provided company representatives and apprentices with onboarding assistance at SC4 by coordinating campus visits, going over apprentices' RTI curriculums, registering apprentices for classes, and connecting them to campus resources. One of my passion projects was simplifying RTI documentation in way that was unified, concise, and organized. I did this by creating a template that outlined an apprentice's class curriculum, course descriptions, and tuition/fees for the academic year, which provided company representatives and apprentices with the relevant information they needed as apprentices prepared for their classroom training. I also developed additional documentation to ensure that company representatives and apprentices were informed of SC4 policies, procedures, and resources.I collaborated with my supervisor, SC4 staff, and community organizations in planning, coordinating, marketing, and implementing the annual job fair. I created, developed, and provided a survey for employers, organizations, and agencies that attended the event to receive feedback about what went well, what could be improved, and ideas for additional career service events.
