Contracted to Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) through Nova Systems working on the SEA1180 OPV program. I lead and influence the design and development of maintenance, logistics, training, and technical support capabilities for the Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) Support System. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including naval architects, systems engineers, logistics experts and industry primes, I am crafting an integrated support framework that optimises sustainment outcomes throughout the entire lifespan of the OPV. This involves designing seamless system architectures, implementing predictive maintenance strategies, and overseeing rigorous artefact testing to ensure the integrated solution meets performance standards.In addition to my strategic approach to support system design, I integrated across diverse teams, fostering effective communication and coordination both above and below the line. My role extends to developing and reviewing comprehensive program documentation for each capability and providing technical feedback to stakeholders. With a background in maritime sustainment and a deep understanding of defence operations, I consistently apply an agile mindset focused on achieving what’s best for capability and the end user across sustainment outcomes for complex defence capabilities.

In my current role as a Technical Specialist, I specialise in developing capability sustainment outcomes for Defence acquisition programs. I play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration and sustained performance of Defence capabilities and technologies through the acquisition phase into delivery and sustainment. Leveraging my experience in maritime operations, I actively contribute to the design and development phases, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and industry providers to anticipate and address potential challenges leading into the delivery and sustainment phases. My responsibilities include providing technical insights to enhance system reliability, maintainability, and overall performance, ultimately optimising sustainment outcomes throughout the entire life cycle of Defence programs.As a key liaison between program and industry stakeholders, I engage in ongoing analysis and assessment to proactively identify areas for improvement in sustainment strategies. This involves implementing innovative approaches to predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring, and life-cycle cost analysis. By staying at the forefront of technological advancements and industry best practices, I ensure that Defence acquisition programs not only meet current operational and functional requirements but also maintain a high level of adaptability and efficiency in the ever-evolving landscape of defence capability.

Provide industry monitoring services against Defence inventory remediation and optimisation strategies. Support implementation of AIC plans and strategies including Supplier Network Assurance Program (SNAP) and optimisation platforms such as Defence Industry Intelligence Tool (DI2). Engage with Defence Industry primes and networks including Office of Defence Industry Services (ODIS), Australian Industry Defence Network (AIDN) and local alliance groups such as The Henderson Alliance.

Maintain the operational integrity of Royal Australian Navy platforms including the ships main driveline, propulsion and auxiliary systems whilst in harbor and at sea. Meet key performance targets by coordinating the day to day running of the propulsion work center of ten including the allocation of planned and corrective maintenance tasks to team members. Provide technical advice to managers and contractors on drive line and propulsion equipment during breakdown and extended maintenance activities and deliver rapid controlling actions to render plant equipment safe during abnormal or elevated operating conditions.Perform the role of Lead Engineer during high seas boarding operations on foreign vessels, providing a comprehensive sea worthiness and volumetric assessment to the Boarding Officer and provide initial technical response to emergent engineering challenges whilst on board.Function as the Lead of the ships repair base by coordinating and implementing battle damage response plans during conditions of fire, flood and toxic atmospheres.
