I currently work as an assistant team leader for Milestones trust an aspect of my is to provide personal care and general support to adults with learning disabilities. The conditions include but are not limited to Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. Addition to the support role of my position I also complete care plans and assessments, I train staff in moving and handling and respond to CQC notifications and complete audits.

At St Monica I ran a early to mid stage Dementia unit. There were two others on shift at all times who I had to ensure used their time effectively to benefit the residents of the home. In addition to this I also completed care plans and risk assessments, and ensured that medical appointments and other meetings with professionals went ahead and that the residents best interests were represented.

At CTS I worked as a team leader for clients who had learning disabilities and mental health conditions of all severites. My main responsibility was to assist in the learning process so the clients can live more independent lives. I also distributed medication to those who required it, and supported clients to access community services.

At Cygnet I was working for a rehab unit in Brunel house. The unit specialises in supporting patients with acquired brain injuries back into the community. I work for Cygnet as a senior support worker. My main responsibilities include allocating staff to roles and duties they're best suited to and working alongside the therapy coordinator to determine activities that work with a patient's therapeutic needs.

I worked for Milestones Trust in Humphrey Repton House, which is a care home for people who have dementia. The service users who live there have all different types of Dementia at various stages of the illness and therefore this makes them unpredictable. I am a key worker to two different service users which essentially means I am especially responsible for them. Being a key worker means I have to attend care reviews and other meetings with outside authorities and I have to be the voice for someone who cannot represent themselves. I also have to use counselling skills on an almost daily basis, because dementia has a tendency to cause confusion and emotional distress. Alongside this I also have to keep accurate records, perform personal care on those who need it and clean the home.Alongside these responsibilities I'm also a trainer. I specialise in moving and handling training which includes but is not limited to back care and the spine, sit to stand techniques, hoisting and floor rescue.
