Working as a production operative where the work involved was making sure the conveyor belts weren’t overloaded with bags of scrambled egg as they had to go on another belt that would jam if overloaded. Checking bags of scrambled egg in case they weren’t sealed properly and doing quality control checks. Packing the bags of scrambled egg into boxes like 2 in a box or 4 in a box mostly and making sure the correct labels were used. Building the pallet of the boxes of scrambled egg, a certain number depending on which boxes were used. I also helped the supervisor make up the tanks of scrambled egg using the different ingredients and making sure the correct amounts were used. The packing of the scrambled egg was fast and constant moving and there was no time for standing about, so if a machine was messing up you would fall behind easily and have to catch up which wasn’t always easy at times, but I made sure things were under control and kept calm. I also done other roles in the factory like boxing up trays of egg or stacking trays on egg on a pallet and also built pallets of liquid egg yolk in boxes. Pallet trucks were used to move the pallets from one place to another, so I was trained on that.

I was working in steel stores which I was required to: separate different pallets of steel parts and stack them neatly, count different parts and items to make sure the quantities matched on the list of parts from a delivery and check them off, help check off items from a delivery, help put together kits for some people which then is brought to the welders, search different parts on computer system for a location of where they were then to be put on the factory shelves. I done manual handling course and I also done gantry crane training and some forklift training as well.

Working in a busy and fast-moving kitchen cooking mainly chicken items in the oil or the burgers on grill and keeping it to a high standard at all times while keeping up with the fast moving environment of the fast food restaurant. It has taught me that you have to work and think very quickly at the same time, there are many times when there is much of pressure and stress for all the orders coming through. I constantly watched and listened to all my co-workers and manager to ensure we were working in a coordinated way to achieve a quality food grade product fit for human consumption in the shortest conceivable timescale-usually minutes; I also have to think ahead and try and stay ahead of the orders by getting food ready to cook in advance and get everything done that needs done diligently, with summary execution of task.
