Other duties include monthly written reports, verbal and visual presentations to Executive Management, and detailed cost and performance analysis. Achievements to date include:  a redesign of the site warehouses to significantly improve safety, workflow and efficiency, fully embedding the facilities management contract to achieve workflow efficiencies and cost reductions,  changes to and additions to the site security contract to include Emergency Response capability, consolidation of all property management to include leased farming land surrounding the power station and residential properties and leases,  streamlined Capital Investment and Project Management frameworks,  rollout of new operating hardware and software platforms, including communications and offsite network access, and site value add from the establishment of on-site financial and commercial teams. All budgets and costs control is now “owned” by on-site leaders with regular cost reviews and analysis. Site wide contracts now centrally managed with significant new controls in place.As with all mining and heavy industrial companies, there is a priority on safety over production. Once construction is underway the role will revert to a more traditional on-site Commercial Manager role with responsibility for purchasing, supply and contracts, housing and accommodation including management and staff town housing, and all normal accounting and financial responsibilities. This led to new mine planning and forecasting as well as a focus on corporate and JV reporting, CAPX expenditure and a very high focus on mine and financial performance.This role had a very high interaction across the entire site operations with particular focus on mining and maintenance operations, infrastructure, water management and flood recovery, technical services including marketing and logistics, business development, corporate and general management. This role was new to this firm, and was designed to take away all management issues, excluding some partnership issues regarding the actual partners, from the Managing Partner, allowing him to concentrate fully on the practice of law.Successes include the implementation of a cost base review and cost-cutting exercise. Out of date equipment and contracts with suppliers were reviewed with the result of new equipment and services at cheaper rates than the existing unsuitable equipment and services. Phones, computer hardware, vehicles, postage machine, stationary, storage were replaced and updated at cheaper rates and a direct improvement to the bottom line.In November the firm relocated a large proportion of the staff to accommodate most staff on one floor of the current building. This necessitated changes to the layout of the office, technical infrastructure and resource allocation.
