Undertake design consultation for planning applications within the Development Management function.Part of Leeds City Council 'Design Championing' team working to integrate HS2 into South Bank Leeds. Lead Design Officer for the East Leeds Brownfield Land residential led Regeneration programme from inception to planning approval for 987 homes across 8 applications and 13 sites in two wards of east Leeds. Lead Design Officer for inward investment programmes including Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme (LPTIP) and Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF).Lead Design Officer for a range of planning frameworks within the city centre and fringe communities. As a key member of Signet's small in-house Urban Design team, integrated closely with our planning colleagues, I worked individually and collaboratively on residential and mixed use masterplans from feasability and sketch to detailed design stages, of all scales from 20 units through to urban extension frameworks, for nationwide clients including major national house builders and land owners. I developed new working practices to deliver day-to-day efficiencies as well as leading on graphic design for all forms of client and public presentation including reports, exhibition boards, flyers, leaflets and booklets, as well as retaining the role of managing, maintaining and developing the corporate website. I took on most responsibilities for producing 3D modelling (sketchup) for our major projects. Through this role, close working relationships with senior planning colleagues continued my professional development by allowing me a detailed understanding of the planning process and how Urban Design contributes to the wider process. Delivered plans, drawings, reports and 3D models as part of the internal masterplanning team located in Signet's Harrogate office. Assisted in the development and refinement of new styles and ways of working. Responsible for the design and delivery of company up-branding including company stationary, marketing materials and website. Summer position held during my two main vacation periods from University during undergraduate study. Refined and prepared metallurgical samples for testing in laboratory and also completed testing procedures including Positive Material Identification using XRF Analysis, Hardness Testing and Microstructure Replication at client facilities such as manufacturing workshops and a number of power stations.
