In early 2012 the industry manager’s role was incorporated into my existing governance role. I oversee and am the point of escalation for all NIHR commercial research across Trent, assessing the feasibility of studies and support across the study life-cycle, leading a team on budget and contract negotiations and performance management.• Ranked 1st out of 25 CLRNs in England for recruitment to time & target into studies that closed in 2012/13. Commercial Activity recruitment to target improved from a position of 20th (out of 25 CLRNs) in December 2011 to 1st at the year-end 2012/13 (only CLRN to reach the 80% green rating with 88%).• The implementation of standardised costs for Acute Trusts across the region to make us increasingly competitive and streamline set up.• Currently ahead of target to achieve 86 commercial trials for 2013/14, exceeded the 2012/13 target of 76 by 13%, with an increase of 41% from the total of 61 for the year 2011/12. • Trent CLRN Industry Event (March 2013) at the East Midlands Conference Centre for approximately 150 participants across Industry, NHS and Academia acting as a catalyst for success.• Development of marketing materials to give an insight and highlight the strengths of our region.• Introduction and roll out of non-commercial costing process at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and training staff across all 5 acute Trust in Trent• Training and implementation of the new Research and Development Management. Information System (RDMIS) system for Research Governance across Trent from June 2011 to June 2012 contributing to the process at a National level• 6 months bringing together the RM&G team at NUH from May 2011, initiating, supporting and developing Band 7 Managers to implement training initiatives and skills in people management
