Part of the group overseeing the phase 1b clinical trial of an investigational therapy, DV218, to treat Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. During my time as a Clinical Trial Assistant, I worked on tracking drug supply to 6 sites through ordering and providing predictive usage modeling. I worked closely with the clinical supplies team to design and develop a IRT (Interactive Response Technology) system for automatic drug resupply to be implemented across 35 sites in 3 countries (with Endpoint Clinical). I was responsible for overseeing document uploading into the TMF on behalf of clinical operations while reviewing and drafting plans for overseeing document uploading by the CRO, including drafting revisions to a TMF Strategy Plan. Became an acting subject matter expert expert for the device used in the trial (Akita Jet Inhalation System) through learning from device manufacturer/ instructions for use and developing a 12 minute training video for users (CRAs and Study Coordinators). Was the lead in updating the trial Pharmacy Manual after implementing Protocol Amendment 2. Ran various meetings and maintained agenda/ minutes. Held various other tasks / responsibilities including reviewed data listing, managed several internal trackers, and managed a bi-monthly Investigator newsletter.

Joining the team as an intern, I gained valuable experience helping launch the company's first commercial product, HEPLISAV-B, a hepatitis b vaccine with a novel adjuvant. While my role wasn't limited to one area, I primarily aided in running and documenting PRC (promotional review committee) meetings. This included drafting agendas and minutes as well as coordinating communications. Secondly, I aided in the triage of materials to the appropriate groups (marketing, medical, legal), ensured adequate information for FDA 2253 submissions, and provided some commentary in reviewing based upon current FDA guidance documents.

Worked closely with an organic chemistry professor in natural product isolation and characterization. Using various extracts from marine sponges, utilized column chromatography, TLC, and organic solvent extraction techniques to isolate pure compounds for analysis with 2D NMR. Once trained, I performed 2D NMR experiments on the various extracts discussed; however, no new compounds were obtained. Currently working on a project involving native Californian plant species with historical medicinal values as possible treatments for UTI's. This project also includes developing protocols for a new ethnopharmacolgy class at my university.

Developed a lentiviral siRNA construct to knockdown expression of CD22, a surface protein over expressed on malignant B cells and a target for immunochemotherapy. Utilized sequence analysis software to develop consensus siRNA sequence. Used flow cytometry (with FloJo analysis software) to detect presence of CD22 with a compound of anti-CD22 antibodies. Completed several MTS cytotoxicity assays in order to analyze lymphocidal activity of a potential non-toxic cancer therapeutic (fermented wheat germ protein, FWGP). Aided in purification of active component(s) in FWGP with HPLC. Held basic molecular biology lab responsibilities including buffer preparation, DNA/Protein gel analysis and western blotting, protein purification with various column chromatography.
