5 years of active duty service in the U.S.M.C. Started out doing the Presidential Ceremonial Marchers at Marine barracks 8th & I in Washington D.C. I did all of the funerals in Arlington, Presidential Ceremonies, and President Ford's funeral in Palm Desert, CA and Grand Rapids, MI. After being transferred to my infantry unit 2nd Battalion 7th Marines out of 29 Palms, CA, I began training in preparation for a deployment to Afghanistan in April of 2008. Our unit was the first battalion level deployment in Afghanistan for 7 years and the base for every deployment following. We operated in Helmand and I was responsible for leading Marines in a combat environment. Following that deployment, I was transitioned to our Company's Armory NCO and put in charge of the organization, security, and functionality of over 5 million dollars worth of weapons, optics, and other equipment essential to the operation of an infantry unit. I did one more non-combat deployment on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit out of Okinawa, Japan. We boarded the USS Essex and sailed to Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines assisting on training their military.
