I am a 31-year-old graduate of occupational therapy. This has been a long road, but one that has not happened by accident. I am part of a hard working family and was taught at a young age that there are two ways to live life, to serve yourself, or to serve others, I chose the latter. I have always enjoyed helping people and realize that making a difference in someone's life is actually the best thing to do for yourself. When I chose a career, I wanted to be able to help people who are less fortunate than myself. I always believe that no matter what your circumstance, we all have the chance to find a way to success. Everyone has an innate ability to be great in something and the saddest thing is knowing that people waste this talent everyday. This happens when we listen to the people who say it is impossible or unlikely to beat these certain odds. When I chose to be an occupational therapist, I took a personal oath to help and inspire individuals to reach their greatest potential and find the talent within. Whether it is assisting an individual who has suffered a stroke and wants to be able to live independently again or helping a child with dyslexia read, I will devote all my professional knowledge in helping these individuals reach their goals. The best part of my job is having the opportunity to make a difference everyday and every moment to change someone's day around.
