Working at JOOR was a great introduction to the New York tech scene work ethic. My primary focus was to test and deploy regular releases of an enterprise-focused iPad application. The app was required to store and transfer thousands of images, via transactional APIs that were also developed in-house. We had a small team, and this enabled us to react fast and change development approaches; this has helped me broaden my knowledge in various Agile methodologies

Writing reviews, features and previews for New Zealand's best website devoted to movies: Flicks.co.nz. I did this part-time as a freelancer, out of normal work hours while I worked in Tech otherwise. I'm a huge movie buff, and this was a dream job; to be paid to share my love of cinema with the world. I generally wrote a review every three weeks or so. In terms of long-term benefits to my Tech roles, this was a great chance for me to shape my communication skills at a nationwide scale.
