Supervisor of Work Release which includes Home Monitored Inmates as well as Inside/Outside Trustees. Instrumental in developing and implementing programs giving inmates the opportunity to learn varying skills they can use to re-enter the community. Since beginning my career fifteen years ago I have exponentially grown the department into far more than a way for inmates to hold a job while incarcerated. I began the program with just a handful of employers willing to give the inmates a job to 15 to 20 potential employers. Inmates that meet all requirements are now given the opportunity to enter back into their communities not owing court fines and fees enabling them to break the cycle that so often send them back to the facility. They work for Albemarle County, the City of Charlottesville and as of August 2015 VDOT with Parks and Recreation and as Road Crews. What they make per hour is applied to their fines. This saves the county, city, and state thousands of dollars in potential salaries. The inmates also learn skills and those that are on Work Release often leave the program with a job. Many of these inmates assimilate back into their communities as contributing citizens.
