I automate building controls in large college campuses, labs and hospitals. Similar to Air Conditioning only on a large scale, controlling not only zone temperature but chillers, boilers, pressures. I also handle monitoring and alarming for atmosphere for contaminants and total building power consumption. My work mostly involves new construction but I also do retrofits and occupied buildings.

Everything on the submarine that had nuts and bolts and was not nuclear or electrically related was my gear as well as all of the firefighting gear. I kept it up and ran it. This includes the machine that made our oxygen, the pump that emptied our sewage, the refrigeration system for our food, 4500 lb. air compressors and 3000 lb. hydraulics, and the emergency diesel generator. All of the gauges and switches associated with these systems as well as the hatches and systems critical to keeping the crew alive and a strategic asset functioning were among my responsibilities.
