• Overseeing depot operations, optimising productivity and adhering to HSE, environmental and other legal requirements, developing and implementing procedures as required• Managing, challenging and minimising costs by ensuring adherence to best practices; effectively routing and managing a team of company and third party drivers and staff and truck operations• Overseeing analysis, processing and follow up on routing and tachograph/digicard inconsistencies and managing stock control and vehicle tracking systems• Liaising internally with transport department and routing departments to coordinate operations• Ensuring effective utilisation of IT to optimise efficiency and accountability within company policies, ensuring accurate and timely data entry into systems • Devising plans for current and forecast business needs through driver and vehicle availability• Ensuring payment of correct wages, recording of enhancements and maintenance of driver files• Motivating and developing the team to KPI’s, completing annual appraisals and half year reviews and assisting with all areas of HR including recruitment, discip0line and training• Conducting regular briefings and HSE meetings for staff along with department operations supervisor• Coordinating depot audits and external agency visits – VOSA, FTA, HSE & EA• Establishing, monitoring, refining and reporting valid KPI’s to line management• Resource management in accordance to budgeted head count & driver/vehicle combination numbers.• Ensuring optimisation of available resource Vs demand to achieve budget.• Responsible for ensuring all delivery incidents are fully investigated and resolved including conducting disciplinary hearings.• Ensuring effective communication processes are established and maintained within the depot/terminal.• Monitoring compliance to standard operating procedures.
