The Youth Justice Community Support Service is an intensive service response to support Youth Justice case management primarily for young people assessed as requiring a high to intensive level of intervention. The YJCSS commenced operations in metropolitan regions in October 2008 and rural regions from February 2009. As Coordinator my initial role was to implement this new program which included employment of staff, networking and capacity building, marketing and PR, initial program development and creation of regional protocols and procedures. Hand Brake Turn is a not for profit organisation that offers Automotive training to young people between the ages of 15-19 and also gives them a nationally recognised Cert 1 in Automotive. Hand Brake Turn Started in 1985 and has three centres in Victoria and 1 in New South Wales. As Assistant manager it was my role to assist in the daily running of the centre and also to act as the senior manager in his absence. My duties included management and supervision of staff, providing in-service training, managing program accounts, preparation of annual budgets preparing regular reports to federal and state funding bodies, submission writing, interviewing prospective students, liaising with local service providers, speaking at network meetings, conducting staff meetings, managing and conducting events, implementation of weekly and daily rosters and designing and updating the national program databases.Other responsibilities included providing intensive support to students, networking to build and maintain relationships with local council, schools, police, teachers and local community. I also was the key trainer in two units of competency; Apply Safe Work Practices (AURC270103A) and Identify environmental regulations and best practice in workplace or business (AURC172003A)
