I'm a graduate from the University of Liverpool with a first-class honours degree in Biochemistry. Possess a drive for laboratory research, gained from my previous experience during my studentship for GenoME and the Patrick G. Johnston Centre for Cancer Research. My studentship research focus concerned the identification and validation of blood-based early detection cancer biomarkers, where we developed a method to identify, optimise and validate DNAme biomarkers from plasma cfDNA.My honours project in the University of Liverpool studied the effect chromosome 17p deletion had on the expression of tumour suppressor genes in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. Both experiences have contributed to my proficiency in utilising end point and quantitative PCR in my research, with further skills in tissue culture.I have also worked job roles in the Retail, Cleaning and Administrative sectors which have improved my skills in independent time management, communication between customers and staff members and problem solving when applying newly learned information to my job role.
