My Design Engineer role specializes around professional broadcast, production workflow solutions, corporate production studios, and remote office integration, digital signage, storage/cloud integration and MAM solutions. The role covers many other markets and technical disciplines as the emergence of audio visual and broadcast technologies have become closely intertwined over recent years with A/V over IP distribution, high bandwidth networking and long-distance connectivity over fiber optic infrastructure.As part of the central engineering resource team, I work directly with our branch offices to:• Identify initial client requirements, scope of work and budget. • Produce detailed scopes and/or identify pro-design and pro-development briefs.• Perform research to identify solutions to meet the specified requirements in the design brief.• Produce initial high level signal flows concepts to identify auxiliary equipment and material items. • Produced detailed client quotes for equipment, materials and all associated labor and delivery costs.• Perform R&D case studies for select projects.• Draw up detailed signal flow CADs, room layouts, infrastructure requirements, pull lists and generate detailed site requirements for third party contractors.• Liaise with the end customer, local office project delivery team, and third-party contractors throughout the life cycle of the project’s deployment.• Attend the client’s site to setup, test, and commission the installed solution ensuring the system functions as designed and that we have fulfilled the original design brief.• Perform end user training; train the customer on the correct use of the entire system and all of it key components.

Halo Post Production is a London-based industry leader providing finishing services into the theatrical, drama, documentary, and factual television sectors. As part of the leadership team, the role covered three strategic areas of the business: Technical Director: - Worked alongside our key internal stakeholders, external technology vendors, industry events, and forums to keep abreast of the latest technology developments. Deployed the innovative use of technology throughout the business to reduce costs and increase efficiency. A few examples include: 1) The utilization of a CWDM dark fiber network across our campuses routing real-time 4K video, networking, and KVM streams, centralizing key equipment at the main hub.2) The utilization of dark fiber technology, the cloud, and IP streaming/KVM protocols to offer full experience ‘remote editing’ post-production services to internal/external clients3) Worked alongside several key clients to develop working prototype bespoke asset management systems to commercialize library media and manage internal production workflows.Chief Engineer: - - Through a team, I managed the daily operation, maintenance, and expansion of the company’s entire audio visual and I.T. technical infrastructure. Key technical suites included:45+ Avid MC offline’s, 5x Avid Symphony online’s, Flame, 3 x Nucoda grades, 1 x commercial Dolby Atmos theatre, 4 x regular Avid Protools studios, 18 x ingest/conform workstations and 15 x VFX (Maya + Nuke) workstations + 40 node render farm.Major Projects Director: - Worked alongside the key project stakeholders to budget, design, scope, RFP/tender, contract, project manage many new campuses and large scale technical infrastructure roll outs. This included renovating seven new sites from construction through to internal cosmetics, internal technical infrastructure, integration of business specific production suites.

Empire Design is a creative agency working exclusively within the feature film poster and trailer market. Their audio-visual facilities included: fourteen Avid suites working from centralised Avid Unity, two Pro-tools sound studios, multiple Autodesk Flame and Smoke suites. I was hired on a temporary six-month contract to design, project manage and deploy updates to the facilities technology and infrastructure. Projects included: the upgrade of the Avid Unity and support infrastructure, installation of a Bright SAN, installation & setup of new Avid suites, overhaul of all existing Avid suites, stripping down/updating of the machine room and technical fixes/upgrades throughout the facility.

Sharp's Audio Visual is the largest national audio-visual system integrator in Canada. They specialise in the consultation, design, installation and after sales support of fully integrated audio-visual systems. Projects varied from national client deployments, entire buildings/campuses and multi-room deployments. I was responsible for installation and after sales service strategies, policy, procedures, resources (people and equipment), productivity, technical standards, and technical employee training for the entire Canadian operation across multiple provinces. My role was structured into three key areas:1) Leadership Team – Key member of the leadership team developing and guiding company’s strategic direction; liaising closely with VPs and national branch managers to manage issues/risks, allocate resources, and ensure smooth day-to-day operational efficiency and profitability. 2) Director of Service and Installation Operations – Key responsibilities included: - National project management – planning and execution of major projects across offices (for resource allocation, risk mitigation, efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction). People management, development and mentoring, succession planning, national training deployment strategies and execution. Management of installation best practices and quality control.3) Director Service Operations - Managed the after-sales service operations including: national deployment of Sharp’s 24hr Rapidcare (warranty repair/maintenance) program, ensuring the Service Department fulfilled the customer Service Level Agreements (SLA). Other service responsibilities included: -• Managing onsite client concierge services (client managed services) including: staffing, equipment, consumables, policy and procedures, service/repair and SLA performance.• Management of a revenue generating service repair workshop, onsite service and maintenance teams.

Condor Digital is an international Post Production company focusing primarily on high-end commercials, broadcast re-branding, stings and music promos. I joined the company in 2003 as the Chief Engineer looking after the I.T., video and audio needs of approximately 35 full time staff members. In 2005 I took on a dual role as Chief Engineer and Managing Director.My role covered two key areas of the business:-1) General Manager – Managed the facility and people of Condor Digital ensuring business was profitable and executed efficiently. Directly managed the Philips worldwide versioning account with our client to ensure we produced and delivered content to the highest standards on time and within agreed tariffs. Managed the move to a new purpose-built facility ensuring full operational continuity. Other duties included: strategic business planning (working direct with our new business manager and production team to target new business), collecting outstanding monies, payroll administration, processing and reconciliation of payables, all HR functions (contracts, hiring, firing), and all other aspects essential for a small business unit. 2) Chief Engineer – In this role I was responsible for: 1) managing the audio/video facilities including: multiple Flame/Smoke systems, moderate sized VFX operation, Telecine suite and a large multiformat machine room. 2) Managing all the facilities I.T systems.
