Senior Manager-Humanitarian Coordination Simulation Exercise Oversee USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance Humanitarian Coordination Simulation Exercise for U.S. Government (USG) staff and others to better understand the structure, coordination mechanisms, and strategic planning protocols of the international humanitarian community represented by the UN and partner members of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC).The training tool covers the roles, tasks, and challenges involved in a coordinated international response to a major humanitarian crisis in a developing country. After a simulated major disaster occurs, trainees and trainers role-play many of the IASC agencies, USG staff, and other key stakeholders as they begin to plan relief response to the disaster.Senior Manager- Strengthening Capacity of local National NGOs (L/NNGOs) to Respond to Humanitarian CrisesOversee the Strengthening Capacity of L/NNGOs to Respond to Humanitarian Crises project bolstering the ability of L/NNGO partners in the Middle East and North Africa to become more effective actors during a humanitarian crisis. The project comprises strategic selection of NNGOs, organizational capacity assessments conducted in partnership with the NNGOs to explore the specific capacity gaps exhibited, a tried and tested capacity strengthening curriculum, implementation of a training program featuring in-person and master class sessions, webinars, and the development of work plans across core domains identified as in need of strengthening by the participating L/NNGOs. Capacity gaps are addressed by a multifaceted program tailored to the requests identified, including on-site deployments by subject-matter experts, remote training courses in key topics of organizational management, and peer-to-peer learning activities. Individual phases of the project are linked together and focused on established benchmarks developed by the L/NNGOs and the project staff.

The MENA Research and Analysis Team Lead is a senior leadership role within the iMMAP MENA Regional Office and entrusted with coordinating the activities of field operators, technical and analytical resources, and political and conflict subject matter experts. iMMAP’s R&A Unit provides nuanced research on tribal dynamics, area-based context analysis, stakeholder mapping, and commodity and value chain evaluation according to donor, client, and partner needs.

Syria Crisis ResponseLed multi-location projects, and demonstrated an ability for rapid, accurate analysis of complex issues, strong decision-making, and translation of programmatic priorities into operational strategies.Led Syria population monitoring initiative providing operational updates on population, specifically IDP movements, sub-regional profiling, and contextualizing refugee returns through the lens of humanitarian conditions related to protection and across approximately 120 villages.

Syria Crisis ResponseSupervised start-up programming for Turkey cross-border information management capacity strengthening and support to crisis response actors. Built and maintained effective relationships with cluster partners, subject matter experts, and local NGOs.

Reported to the Crisis Response Director and progressed through a series of promotions, culminating in responsibility for the coordination and management of five USAID, UNHCR, BPRM, and WFP programs for Southern Syria cross-border including overseeing 200 staff, and managing a budget of US $107 million. Supervised a Communications and Reporting team of 10 people and remotely managed 12 primary and multiple secondary contacts throughout southern Syria for collecting data concerning infrastructure, demographics, market assessments, IDP populations, general humanitarian needs. Documented best finance practices and lessons learned in remotely managed distribution programming over a period of 3 years, with a focus on monitoring and evaluation, information collection and management, and trend analyses for long-term vision and strategy operations. Prepared situational, quarterly, and a ad hoc reporting requirements for OFDA, FFP, and UN agencies summarizing program deliverables and project impact. Ensured monitoring and relevant reporting occurred in appropriate stages of project development, implementation, and closeout.
