Dan Nolan oversees the COIL Initiative at the University of Minnesota system, and teaches as an Assistant Professor of German Studies on the Duluth campus. He was recently recognized as a University of Minnesota Distinguished Global Professor. His research in literary criticism focuses on gestures of truthfulness in the 18th and 19th centuries. He also helped to found the Mobile Language Learning Group, the Environment and Engagement in German Studies group, and the Engaged Digital German Environmental Studies Symposium.
