I am a health and safety professional with over 18 years experience working in mining, rail and construction. I have held senior management roles throughout my career specialising in the development and implementation of safety systems, risk management frameworks, health monitoring, assurance programs, legal compliance and psychosocial initiatives.In my role as Health, Safety and Training Manager I directly managed a team of nine safety professionals for a site of approximately 400-500 personnel. During this time I designed, implemented and contributed to several safety initiates that produced a year on year improvement to the sites safety performance over 7 years. This included programs such as:* Mindfulness - Providing workers with the understanding of human factors, risk normalisation and tools on how to be present in the moment whilst carrying out tasks at work. * Risk Vs Reward - Co developed with the site Safety and Health Representative, Focused on decision making and having the courage to speak up in the workplace. Reducing the stigma around raising concerns and perception of victimisation. Produced video displaying a sliding doors type theme - potential outcomes when you speak up vs not speaking up about hazards in the workplace, “is it worth the risk”?My experience as a health and safety professional has involved contribution to the Australian wide strategy and direct management of site based strategies and plans. I have been involved in the implementation of safety systems at new mine acquisitions and contributed to the successful closure of a mine including the implementation of personal development plans for over 300 personnel.Furthermore, i have experience in complex workers compensation claims including strategies on premium reductions, budgeting, life of mine and asset risk assessments, contractor management, training management, assurance and risk frameworks associated with security, workplace surveillance and aviation.
