I have almost 18 years experience in retail, 14 of which have been in a managerial position. Within this time I have learnt how important customer service really is and building a relationship with customers, even if they never return, as word of mouth really does spread. I have also learnt that there is more to customer service than just meeting and greeting; fill level and availability of stock, the way and where products are displayed, how they are priced and the assistance given all impact on a great shopping experience. I achieve this through working reports and planning staff efficiently, all within keeping to budgets and company guidelines.I am never more comfortable than when I am visual merchandising, whether it be from a planogram or my own imagination, it is a skill I have gained from having a keen eye for detail and experience. I also feel that my expertise on products that I am selling, coupled with my enthusiasm, allow me to inspire customers to make a purchase. I do this by taking any chance I can to learn/research brands and product ranges that I am not familiar with. These points, along with my proven ability to beat set targets, keep to budgets, increase profit and lead a team to achieve the highest standards.During my career at Poundstretcher I have trained and coached several staff members to management positions. I have also trained new managers when they have started within the company. I have always enjoyed passing on my experience and knowledge to others, to help them achieve and progress through their careers.
