I am an award winning, veteran Brewmaster & Project Manager of 20 years. I currently reside on Hilton Head Island, in the great state of South Carolina. I began my brewing career in 1994 in Colorado. Since then I have been very fortunate to have been a part of some very successful organizations that along side striving to do our part to help make the craft brewing industry what it is today. Have been producing internationally award winning brews for over two decades.I would like to extend an invitation for those that are new to or would like to become a part of the fast growing American craft brewing scene. I have designed and built three facilities to date and am well versed in all areas of brewpub as well as large scale production brewing and their inherent requirements &/or necessities. Eg.- Project development, Existing operational/equipment efficiency "challenges"​ & expansion planning, Sanitation/safety training, Laboratory setup, S.O.P.'s, Personnel/Operations consulting, Sensory evaluation training. etc... There is no cookie cutter methods of planning for the construction nor forecasted sustainability of any given successful brewing operation. It is inspiring to me that I continue to discover new opportunities for a wide variety of challenges on every project. I can honestly say that I will never tire of that.Thank you for taking the time. Riverbend Brewing is a ground up renovation/build project located on the banks of the beautiful Deschutes River in the heart of Bend Oregon completed in June of 2013 (Address- 2650 NE Division St. 97701)The property as well as the brewery and affiliated brew pub across the parking lot are owned by Gary and Linda Sobala, (Bend Oregon locals for over 40 years)The brewhouse equipment, fermentors and bright beer tanks were all custom fabricated by Mark's Metal Manufacturing out of Vancouver WA. The structural construction/renovation side of the project was overseen by Gary while the design and manufacturing side of the project. In addition to daily operations are overseen by myself. With the exception of the decisions necessary to be made by our executive chef. Which happens to be Gary himself. (After several successful restaurant ventures over the years. Starting his own brewery has been a long time personal dream of Gary's)We are just into our second year of operations and sales are increasing at a steady and healthy rate. The goal for 2015-16 in regards to brewing operations will be to double up our annual output respectively through the acquisition of higher numbers of local draft accounts. As well as introducing a line of bottled products. With the first bottle run slated for late summer 2015.

Summary- In addition to the daily responsibilities inherent to "pub" brewers everywhere. The primary function that I was assigned to, aside from the upkeep and continuous improvement of production of the the company's core "brand family" was to spearhead innovative new products and raw materials through the process of research & development.Deschutes Brewery is a company comprised of a group of very motivated, creative innovators. As lead pub brewer, my job was to:A.) Bring to the quarterly round table, conceptual inspiration in the form of (some more than others) "outside the box" prototype formulations. B.) Present these prototype products in a marketable direction in the effort to maximize market viability shares. As well as presenting said product(s) developmental action plan & proposed methods of implementation.
