In addition to IP, Daniel is committed to pro bono work. He focuses on issues related to fair housing and wrongful eviction, and has first-chaired multiple bench trials.

After earning his bio-medical engineering degree, Daniel began as an R&D engineer at Apnex Medical Inc., a St. Paul based medical device start-up company making a nerve stimulator to treat obstructive sleep apnea. As the company began FDA clinical trials, Daniel transitioned into a cross-over role with the clinical group. He was involved with patient management, developing and refining sub-study protocols, and data analysis, while contributing to Apnex's ever-expanding IP. He provided hands on training to field staff at sleep research laboratories across the United States, Australia and Europe. Daniel is a co-inventor on three pending patent applications on the topic, and co-authored three academic publications, including a 2012 article published an article in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care (citation below) demonstrating improved airflow in 30 of 30 patients during sleep. As a contributing author to this publication, Daniel not only acquired the data, but spent countless hours analyzing the data one-on-one with Dr. Alan Schwartz of the Johns Hopkins Sleep Disorders Center.
