Developed new circuit designs and noise removal algorithms at DoD Navy Research Facility. Designed front­end receivers from off​­the​­shelf parts, designed PCBs, designed Matlab DSP noise removal algorithm, and tested the results. Contributed to the development of a GPS alternative solution for the Navy, involving the receiving of lightning strike radio waves (Sferics), and turning these into relevant timing information as a part of a system of systems for relative positioning that is unjammable. Conducted numerous tests using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, breadboards, and other miscellaneous equipment. Evaluated antenna testing sites and tested transmit levels of an experimental antenna, compared results to a reference antenna, and designed testing procedures to minimize error while following proper safety procedures as outlined by Navy personnel.

Interned under Chuck Wells, an Electrical Engineer from OSIsoft. Analyzed the power grid using power measuring devices for frequency, voltage, current and power spectrum (FFT). Established an algorithm that detects when the power grid is about to have a black out by detecting signature frequencies that appear when using auto​correlation and other statistics.

Tested current distributions of errors in a wireless 802.11 packet to create solutions to error correction for a more robust WiFi network. Rewrote chipset drivers, coded in C, used virtual machines, and set up testing environments.

Jacobs School Of Engineering

Analyzed plasma dust charging distributions and photonic crystal band gaps under the guidance of Marlene Rosenberg. Generated models using Matlab which required differential equations, probability theory, summations, discrete graphing, and matrices. Key contributor of data found on graphs in “On the Charge of Mesospheric Dust”

Misc Locations

Volunteered research on Graphene with Sadik Esener and Araz Taifehesmatian. Responsible for hardware connections and documentation for Viasat project on Android phone communication with experimental Bluetooth, serial, PC, and USB connections. Experimentation with WiFi optimization and security, including using open source router software and hacking personal network under different encryption schemes. Created a business proposal to bring better internet connectivity to a Baja Mexico beach community. Accomplished the venture by purchasing antennas and reconfiguring firmware on several routers to set up a wireless link from a town over 3 miles away.
