Current Projects2017Multi-beam Surveys of the Designated Wrecks on the Goodwin Sands and the Downs. This project is being funded by Historic England. The project aims to conduct a high resolution multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) survey of all six designated wreck sites within the Goodwin Sands and the Downs (Northumberland, Stirling Castle, Restoration, Admiral Gardner, Rooswijk and GAD8). These surveys will provide accurate three dimensional records of each site and provide valuable information about their current state.2016The Use of Multi-Image Photogrammetry to Record At-Risk Archaeological Material from Invincible and the Creation of a Virtual and Interactive Dive Trail. This project is being funded by Historic England and Daniel is directing a mixed team of professional archaeologist, students and volunteers from the Nautical Archaeology Society, the University of Southampton and ArtasMedia. The project will continue the recording of the most vulnerable areas of the site using photogrammetry and incorporate the results alongside previous surveys into a virtual trail. This will allow members of the non-diving community to enjoy and experience the wreck site of Invincible.2014 to 2016The London (1665) Excavation funded by English HeritageThe London was a second-rate Man-of-War, which blew-up on passage from Chatham in March 1665. The wreck now lies in two pieces with many exposed and vulnerable artefacts. This protected wreck is on the 2014 heritage at risk register and a phased two year investigation, consisting of archaeological evaluation (2014) followed by excavation (2015) is currently being undertaken. This was extended to a third season in 2016. Daniel was the lead archaeologist on this project.
