Daniel A. Persaud is a recent Finance Undergraduate with a strong academic track record that aligns tightly with his ambitious nature of becoming comfortably uncomfortable. Before graduating Summa Cum Laude, He was an active leader on campus, developing and managing two student-ran committees, which bridged the gap between knowledge and application for business, marketing, and pre-law students to apply what they have learned in the classroom setting to committee projects. Daniel’s responsibilities on campus ranged from President of the Student Investment Fund, which managed over $130,000 of alumni donations through investing in public securities, to Executive Treasure of the Student Government Association, budgeting and allocating over $150,000 of the university’s endowment to fund student ran organizations on the Long Island University Campus. These responsibilities outside of his university’s curriculum not only equipped him with the necessary critical thinking, qualitative, and analytical skills needed for a successful career in finance but also exposed him to uncomfortable circumstances that molded his character development. During Daniel’s senior year, he was allowed to deploy, manage, and grow his grandparent’s retirement savings under Persaud Capital Management. The experience was like no other internship or course assignment, for he was not only trusted to invest others’ capital but also tested to showcase what he has learned from his years of studies. Throughout the season, He was able to develop his circle of competence around growth equities, analyzing and investing in disruptive companies that leveraged the power of network effects to create a user-friendly ecosystem. A few examples of these disruptors include Crowd Strike’s Cybersecurity Platform, PayPal’s Payment Processing Platform, and Shopify’s Ecommerce Platform. By the beginning of 2022, Daniel grew the portfolio from $74,000 to $132,000.
