Dr Dan Peters is a Scientist within the Radiometry Group within the Earth Observation and Atmospheric Sciences Division (EOASD) of RAL Space. He has a wide range of technical expertise in remote sensing techniques for ground and satellite-based applications. His overarching focus is to ensure that current and future satellite measurements have the required accuracy for the application. A secondary aim is supporting technology development focused on climate and air quality for example gases and aerosol particles and in-situ UAV sampling. He is a visiting scientist at the University of Oxford including joint supervision of Oxford doctoral students. He worked as a postdoc scientist at the University of Oxford [2003-2014], and Bristol University [2012-2013]. His work also included testing and design of thermal wind sensor electronics for future mars missions. He obtained his doctorate from Oxford in 2004 entitled “Radiometric calibration of HIRDLS” a NASA EO instrument on board the AURA satellite bus. He attained his master's [1998] in Physics with Space Science and Technology at Leicester University.
