Dan has been in the Utility Industry since graduating from high school in 1995. It was through that initial summer job, painting the turbine shrouds at Palisades Nuclear Plant, was where Dan’s Safety Journey began. Not only was he introduced to what safety looked like in the workplace but he found a job that he knew could start his career. Dan continued to work summers at the nuclear plant as well as refueling outages until the plant was sold to NMC in 2001. Dan then jumped into meter reading which gave him yet another aspect of what safety looked like. After the short 18 month stint in Meter Reading, Dan jumped back into generation at one of Consumers Energy’s Fossil Fuel plants. It was at this Coal fired power plant where Dan found his roots and began his role as a Safety Champion for Consumers Energy. In his 14 year career at the JH Campbell Plant, Dan has held many roles from Laborer, Millwright, Co-chair of his Local Safety committee for 7 years, leading to a Certified Utility Safety Professional certification. As a proud Executive Board member of the Utility Workers Union of America Local 388, Dan has had the honor and privilege to serve as the co-chair of the Safety Culture Team representing generation for the last 3 years. In this capacity, Dan and his team have worked relentlessly to empower ALL employees at Consumers Energy by inspiring and motivating individuals in hopes of changing hearts and minds to send everyone home safely each and every day. Dan spends what little free time he has with his wife Kristen and two children Dylan (10) and Evelyn (9months). If Dan isn’t coaching youth sports you can find him yelling at a TV watching the Michigan State University Spartans, a school he attended from 1998 -2001. GO GREEN!
