Collections OfficerInland Revenue Nz Jan 2015 - Jul 2017Wellington & Wairarapa, New ZealandAfter being promoted due to my work record in my previous position for the IRD, I stepped into this position of Collections Officer. The key difference between this role and my previous position were that my responsibility and authority increased. As a Collections Officer, this held the important task of managing one on one customer account management. Basic overviews of my responsibilities in this role were: • Quality assurance lead and data integrity• Responsible for millions of dollars’ worth of repayments• Managing large debt portfolios• Providing sensitivity and accuracy when managing legal cases• Consistently maintaining excellent and consistent customer service in an environment which can attract a lot of negativityMy delegation to be able to solely deal with debts of larger scale increased significantly. I was provided with the responsibility to deal with unlimited levels of debt as part of making recommendations and passing these up the management chain to reach the appropriate decision maker.In my time with IRD the largest individual debt case I resolved was approximately $250,000. The largest group management case I resolved (which involved 17 overseas customers) was approximately $1.2 million. Any actions that needed to be completed prior to an initial hearing were: • Discussions and negotiations with the customer• Processing any repayment applications • Passing recommendation to decline or approve these to the relevant authority• Advising the customer • Preparing all legal pre-work documents• Organising for all legal documentation to be served to the customer• Liaising with the High Court to arrange time for the initial hearing• Liaising with the IRD’s lawyers • Ensuring the next steps/procedure advised by the High Court is actioned following on from the hearing. -

Working as a Customer Service Specialist (CSS) was based in an outbound call centre with a dedicated inbound line for our customer responses. I was to manage both incoming and outgoing communication with our customers. On both making and receiving calls, I was accountable for providing the aforementioned education to our customers, whilst facilitating a repayment plan that suited the customer’s situation and the Department’s requirements. This involved a thorough knowledge of the current policies and legislations that were in place and consistently applying these to all communication/s. RFL: I was promoted to a Collections Officer position within the Service Delivery division. -
